Welcome to UNCOVER Madeira Island!

By applying for and using the UNCOVER Madeira Island Membership Card ("the Card"), you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

The Card provides access ONLY to:

  • Events organized directly by UNCOVER Madeira Island

  • Discounts from official partners displaying the UNCOVER partner logo

  • UNCOVER Madeira Island community networking events

The Card does NOT provide access to public venues, transport, or any other services.

Section 1: Eligibility & Purpose

Age Requirement
Members must be 18 years or older at the time of application. No exceptions.

What the Card Provides
The Card grants access exclusively to:

  1. Events organized by UNCOVER Madeira Island (September-December and February-May)

  2. Discounts from official partners (listed on our website, valid full 12 months)

  3. UNCOVER Madeira Island community networking events

What the Card Does NOT Provide:

  1. Student ID, transport pass, or residency permit

  2. Access to public venues or third-party facilities

  3. Guaranteed entry to any specific event

Personal Use Only
The Card is personal and non-transferable. Only the registered cardholder may use it. Sharing, lending, or altering the Card results in immediate termination.

Validity
12 months from the issuance date.

Eligibility
Available only to persons 18 years or older who are:

  • Erasmus+ and similar mobility students in Madeira

  • Full-degree international students at Madeira higher education institutions

  • Trainees or interns in recognized Madeira programs

  • Volunteers in recognized international programs in Madeira

Proof documents are required at the application.

Membership Fee
One-time payment required at application. Non-refundable. Current rate displayed on website; may change only for new applicants.

Replacement Fee
10 euro administrative fee for lost, stolen, or damaged Cards.

Section 2: Application Process

Online Application Required
Submit via website form with:

  • Full name, date of birth (must prove age 18 or older), nationality, phone, email

  • Eligibility proof documents

  • Current photo

Verification
Approval within 48 hours (business days only). Under-18 or incomplete applications are rejected immediately.

Payment
One-time membership fee due at application. Online payment only.

One Card Per Person
No multiple Cards permitted.

Section 3: Validity & Renewal

12-Month Term
Expires exactly 12 months from issuance.

Event Seasons
Events organized September-December and February-May. No events guaranteed in other months. No refunds or extensions for off-season periods.

Partner Discounts
Valid full 12 months at official partners (see partner listing on website) regardless of event seasons.

No Auto-Renewal
New application and new one-time fee required for continued membership.

Expired Cards Invalid
Cannot be used after the expiration date.

Section 4: Usage Rules

Exclusive Access
Card valid only for:

  1. UNCOVER Madeira Island events

  2. Official partner discounts (partners display UNCOVER logo)

  3. UNCOVER community networking

Digital Cards and Entry
Digital Cards are valid only via the official UNCOVER app with verified login. Some events require QR code entry via the app. A physical card alone is insufficient for these events.

Partner Discounts
Available full 12-month Card validity. Each partner page specifies the exact discount, redemption method, and restrictions. Subject to:

  • Partner opening hours

  • Partner booking requirements

  • Partner capacity limits

Event Access
Membership provides access to all UNCOVER events, subject to:

  • Capacity limits (first-come, first-served registration)

  • Event-specific conditions

  • Health and transport requirements

Transportation
Some events include transport (marked "TRANSPORT PROVIDED"). Others require members to arrange and pay for their own transportation. Check event details.

Health Disclosure
Members must inform UNCOVER Madeira Island of relevant health conditions before registering for activities requiring fitness, swimming, hiking, or similar. Failure to disclose results in denied participation.

Photo and Video Consent
Members consent to UNCOVER using their photos and videos taken at events or activities for marketing and social media purposes. Opt-out by emailing [info@weareuncover.com].

Insurance
UNCOVER Madeira Island provides no insurance coverage unless the partner explicitly states coverage for the co-organized event. Members are responsible for their own health, travel, and accident insurance.

Cancellation Policy
If UNCOVER cancels an event: Full refund of event participation fee paid, minus non-refundable payment processor fees (typically 3 to 5 percent).

If the member cancels event participation:

  • Cancellation more than 72 hours before the event's scheduled start time: 75 percent refund of the event participation fee paid, minus non-refundable payment processor fees.

  • Cancellation less than 72 hours before the event's scheduled start time, or no-show: No refund of any kind.

All refunds are processed within 14 days to the original payment method. Membership fees are never refunded under any circumstances.

Capacity Limits
Events have fixed participant limits. Registration closes when full. Organization not responsible for missed events due to full capacity.

Section 5: Member Responsibilities

Members Must:

  1. Check all event details (date, time, location, capacity, transport, health requirements) before registering

  2. Register for events before the capacity is reached

  3. Attend registered events on time with a card (or a valid QR code)

  4. Disclose health conditions for applicable activities

  5. Follow all event instructions from staff or volunteers

  6. Keep contact information updated

  7. Report lost or stolen Cards within 24 hours

  8. Arrange own transport unless marked "transport provided."

Organization Not Responsible if Members:

  1. Missed events because they failed to check the details

  2. Arrive late or at the wrong location or time

  3. Do not meet event requirements (age, fitness, equipment, health)

  4. Fail to register before capacity limits

  5. Lack required insurance

Prohibited Actions
Members must not, in relation to UNCOVER Madeira Island, its staff, volunteers, partners, or events:

  1. Share, lend, or misuse the card

  2. Harass, abuse, or threaten staff, volunteers, or other members

  3. Damage property

  4. Publish defamatory, false, or seriously damaging content

  5. Deliberately support such content online by liking, reacting positively, re-posting, sharing, or forwarding posts, comments, stories, or videos that a reasonable person would recognize as seriously harming UNCOVER Madeira Island's reputation or its staff, volunteers, or partners

  6. Participate in online groups, chats, or campaigns whose main purpose is to attack UNCOVER Madeira Island

  7. Use the organization name or logo inappropriately

Social media guidance is available on our website. Permitted: Honest, fact-based feedback through official channels (email, website form).

Communication
Official notices are sent to the registered email address. WhatsApp updates are not guaranteed. Members must check their email regularly.

Section 6: Termination

Immediate Termination For:

  1. Card misuse or sharing

  2. Harassment or abuse of staff, volunteers, or members

  3. Defamatory statements or deliberate online support (likes, shares, reactions) for defamatory or seriously damaging content about UNCOVER Madeira Island, staff, volunteers, or partners

  4. Criminal behavior

  5. Fraudulent application

  6. Age verification failure (under 18)

Process:

  • Written notice via email

  • Card immediately invalid

  • Must return the physical Card within 7 days

  • No refunds upon termination

  • Terminated Cards cannot be transferred, sold, or used under any circumstances. Any attempt voids all benefits permanently

Appeal: Written appeal within 7 days to [info@weareuncover.com]. Response within 7 days.

Section 7: Liability and Force Majeure

No Liability For:

  1. Missed events due to capacity limits or members' failure to check details

  2. Partner service issues

  3. Transport delays or cancellations

  4. Event injuries (members participate at their own risk)

  5. Lack of member insurance

  6. Technical issues during registration

  7. Cancellations due to weather, government restrictions, partner insolvency, or unforeseen events (force majeure)

Members Responsible For:

  • Checking event details, transport, and health requirements

  • Personal insurance

  • Event compliance and behavior

Section 8: Data Protection

Personal data used for membership, events, and partners as permitted by GDPR. Newsletters sent; unsubscribe link included.
Data retention: Membership records are kept 5 years post-expiration for legal and compliance purposes. Contact [info@weareuncover.com] for access or deletion requests.

Section 9: Changes

Terms, benefits, or communication channels may change. Website or email notice provided. Effective 14 days later. Continued use equals acceptance.

Section 10: Governing Law

Portuguese law applies. Madeira courts have exclusive jurisdiction. English version controls.
